June 09, 2021 LCSO found an adult Armadillo road killed on the side of U.S. 36 east of Chillicothe.  We had not seen any of these animals in this area prior to this.  Just another creature and potential hazard motorists, especially motorcyclist need to be on the look out for.

Kudos to BAM Organizers and Supporters!

A big Thank You to Amy Supple, Doug Long, Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce, Chief Darrell Wright, Bam Volunteers, the ambulance staff, Wheeling Fire, Dawn First Responders, Chula Fire First Responders, Chillicothe Parks and Chillicothe Street Departments, MoDOT, and the police, troopers, dispatchers, and deputies, and everyone else who worked the 2-day BAM Event.

This event brought hundreds of people through our area. I/we heard many positive comments from participants, supporters, organizers, businesses, and citizens. I saw quite a few of the participants enjoying Chillicothe and taking photos of the murals.

There was a great deal of responsibility and organization which took place for months and weeks ahead of BAM. Those involved did an excellent job.

If you have time consider donating BLOOD to the Community Blood Center today at the United Methodist Church on Walnut Street in Chillicothe. Open until 6 this evening

Sheriff Cox and another Livingston County elected official joined others from our community in giving blood today!  It is a rewarding feeling to help save life.

Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter

For 2 days last week, Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter attended the Remington Defense/ Bushmaster Patrol Rifle Armorer School, hosted by the Leewood Kansas Police Department. At that training Deputy Leadbetter was instructed on how to better service and maintain our patrol rifles. This course went in depth on how to construct and deconstruct a patrol rifle in various platforms.

Our patrol rifles are an investment and a tool that protects and enhances the safety of our community and officers. Deputy Leadbetter is now assigned the task of ensuring these firearms are running correctly and will continue to run correctly for years to come. Deputy Leadbetter will be able to repair and replace parts without shipping the firearms to a manufacturer, which is both expensive and time consuming.

On May 13, 2015 the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office mailed 500 notices to the next prospective jury panel.   By law the Circuit Clerk of the County (Brenda Wright) is obligated to obtain/prepare a list of the prospective jurors for each term. Then the sheriff is required to submit that notice to each person and we do this by U.S. Mail.

It might be a good day to buy a lottery ticket or donate some extra cash to your Church or charity.

The week of April 13, 2015 Deputy Will Perez and Deputy Dave Bagley attended a very in-depth training for one full week at the Missouri State Highway Patrol Training Academy in Jefferson City. The deputies received advanced training in the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC).

This training included both day and night classes on emergency vehicle operations on all types of roadways in various types of conditions with different types of patrol vehicles. The officers obtained lifelong skills which increases the safety of everyone on the roadway and minimize potential for accidents, injury, and liability.

We are proud that Deputy Perez and Deputy Bagley attended this course. Both officers reported back they had learned a great deal about vehicle and emergency vehicle operations. All the LCSO road patrol deputies receive advanced driver training to maintain a higher level of professionalism and responsibility to our community.

We sold one of these a few months ago and due to the demand for opportunity to have a unique "man cave" we are doing it again.  The jail door, lock and bars have served this county jail from 1978 through 2012.

The men and women of the Livingston County Sheriff's Office wish to share our appreciation to all our Facebook friends.  This week we have received 144 new "Likes" giving us 2,051 total "Likes" at the time of this blog.

Our social media friends have been extremely helpful to area law enforcement.  You have given us a heads up on criminal activities, tips on fugitives, and shared important information with thousands of people here and in north Missouri.  You have helped in locating missing persons and prevented people from falling prey to scams and other criminals.  All of which has greatly increased safety for this and other communities and helped people that are already victims of crime.

Your support, knowledge, and willingness to help has been and always will be very much appreciated!  We work in and for a great community and people.  It is our pleasure to serve you and strive to do what is right.

Recently a Scout group came to the LCSO and met with Deputy Will Perez and Deputy Ryan Ford.  The group was given a tour and discussion about the LCSO.  They also got first hand views of patrol vehicles and equipment.

Our staff had a great time with the group!

 Deputy Timothy A. Bryan

We are pleased to introduce our new employee to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.  Deputy Timothy (Tim) A. Bryan came to our office wanting to move to the Livingston County area for multiple reasons.  He and his family are excited to be here and we are happy to have them on our team.

Deputy Bryan's bio:

Born in1964 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton MO. Lived in Trenton until June 1982.

Active member of the community in the Boy Scouts of America.

Graduated from Trenton High School in 1982. While in High School played football and wrestling.

Upon graduation enlisted in the United States Army. Completed basic training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Knox KY.

During his Army Career Tim was stationed at Fort Riley KS, Camp Casey Korea, Fort Knox KY twice, German, Saudi Arabia and Iraq for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  Deputy Bryan was assigned as a Tank Commander/Instructor.

After completing 12 years of active duty Military began work as a Corrections Officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections while going to the Police Academy to begin a career as a law enforcement officer.

Upon completion of the Police Academy began as a Deputy Sheriff for the Ray County Sheriff’s Office and worked there for close to 2 years before accepting employment as a Police Officer for the City of Lawson MO.

Deputy Bryan is married with one child and 3 step children and 1 Grandson. 

Will Perez

Deputy Will Perez has completed training in the area of DWI Enforcement and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing at the Lees Summit Police Department.  The training began Monday, October 27 and concluded Wednesday, October 29.

47% who took the poll responded it is a positive addition.

43.2% responded it is not needed here.

9.8% said they need more information.

2.        What are your thoughts on Ebola becoming widespread in the USA?

5.5% of the responses said it won’t happen here.

7.3% said they are preparing now.

32.7% believe maybe a few isolated incidents.

54.5% answered the Federal government has no idea.

POE network switch to provide network connectivity as well as power to all cameras.

Recording equipment capable of retaining video a minimum of 45 days.

Equipment to burn DVD’s and CD’s of video and audio recordings.

Installation of all equipment to include all necessary cabling, network switches to isolate from the active network.

1 year on-site warranty on all hardware.

Integration to current IT systems within the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Missouri Sheriffs’ Association President Kevin Bond has appointed Sheriff Steve Cox to the MSA’s Legislative Committee which is chaired by Grundy County Sheriff Rodney Herring.  Sheriff Cox was also appointed to MSA’s Membership and Media Committee which is chaired by Dallas County Sheriff Mike Rackley.

Sheriff Cox previously served on the MSA Executive Board of Directors and was the 2010 MSA President.

These are pictures of the most recent patrol car we added to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol.  This is a 2012 Dodge Charger Police Package which was purchased in March 2014 and put into service in May 2014 after being properly equipped.

The used vehicle was bought from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and had approximately 55,000 miles at the time of purchase.  We have added the necessary equipment and assigned this patrol vehicle to Deputy Chris Mueller as the primary driver.

The LCSO road patrol are assigned vehicles as we are a small organization and depend on all our road patrol when a serious emergency occurs which provides for a much timelier and effective response to any situation.

The LCSO had a demonstrated need for the newer patrol vehicle due to excessive mileage and mechanical issues.

The used MSHP Patrol Car cost approximately $15,750 but $8,999 of that cost was covered by a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant we had received.

Deputy Chris Mueller

Deputy Chris Mueller recently attended a 2 week training session at the Missouri State Highway Patrol Training Academy on Firearms Instruction.

Deputy Muller had to perform at high levels of efficiency and accuracy with handguns, rifles, and shotguns.  Additionally he studied the roles and responsibilities of firearms instruction for law enforcement.

Deputy Mueller will not only provide instruction and certification training for the officers at the Livingston County Sheriffs’ Office.  Chris will also assist other agencies and will be the firearms instructor for the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Training Academy which is hosted by the Livingston County Sheriffs’ Office in Chillicothe beginning August 07, 2014.  By having an in-house firearms instructor it will also save us money from having to pay for individual officer certifications every year.

Chris has been a deputy sheriff with the LCSO since 2010.  We are proud of his accomplishments and the work he does for the citizens of Livingston County.

Deputy Will Perez

Will was born in Brockton, Massachusetts and has lived most of his life in Massachusetts and moved to Kirksville in February 2014 to pursue his career in law enforcement, prior to taking and passing the Missouri POST Exam he served as a Military Police Officer for 9 years in the United States Army.

He served as a Reserve Deputy in Schuyler County. He is a father to a beautiful daughter named Leylani and always says that everything he does is for her.

He looks forward to building a relationship with the community of Livingston County and looks forward to helping those in need and to serve his community.

Deputy Nicholas Leadbetter recently received a weeks-worth of intensive driving and pursuit driving skills and enhanced training.

Deputy Leadbetter attended the Missouri State Highway Patrol Training Academy’s Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.  The training consists of class room and all types of driving on the MSHP training track.

Students learn all types of information about vehicles, weight shift, breaking, acceleration, and emergency vehicle operations under all types of conditions and stress.  The week long course also includes some night time driving.

All LCSO deputies attend advanced vehicle operations course(s) to better protect them and all other motorists during job performance.

April 09 Deputy Chris Mueller, Captain Sindy Fitzpatrick and Detective Eric Menconi received training from the Missouri Sheriffs Association Training Academy on Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.  The instructor is highly respected and extremely knowledgeable of these types of gangs in the Midwest and in rural Missouri.

The training from free to the LCSO as we are members of the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association.
